American Military History

Description: Since the Revolution, the American Military has expanded and transformed into the modern military machine we know today. Students will examine the history of America’s military in survey fashion as they research and analyze specific engagements. The course covers the military from colonial days to the present, including Kuwait, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. Students will use handouts and online sources to research the military leaders, philosophies and specific aspects of some major battles in regards to tactics, weaponry, and terrain. Students will spend time outside of class mastering a new vocabulary and researching the key components of the conflict that will be discussed in class. The class broadens the students understanding of U.S. History.

B.S. in History & Political Science with a concentration in International Affairs

Julie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Samford University with a concentration in International Affairs. During her 19 years of home educating her children, she has been a tutor at Classical Conversations, as well as United States History, Government, Economics and British Literature various co-ops. She loves connecting with the students and helping them want to achieve more than they imagined.
