English 5

This class will focus on grammar, writing and literature. Using BJU’s English 5: Writing and Grammar, students will expand their knowledge and skills as they apply grammar concepts through writing in a variety of situations. Additionally, students will cultivate an appreciation of literature and build reading comprehension and critical thinking skills as they engage in reading selections from BJU's Reading 5 text, Quests.

REQUIREMENTS

Required Texts:
BJU English Grade 5 Student Edition (3rd Edition)
BJU Reading 5 Quests Student Text (3rd edition)

Copy/Supply Fee: $40 (paid directly to the coordinating instructor, Emerald Soldan, at Orientation or the first class attended)

Tuition: $375 ($37.50/month for 10 months, August - May)

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Emerald Soldan

B.A. English
M.A. Teaching

Emerald grew up in a small town on the peninsula of Virginia. She attended a Christian school k-12th grade and went on to Christopher Newport University to earn her degrees in English and in Teaching. Her marriage to her husband Chris brought her to Richmond. She is a mom of two who both attend Bridge Academy. She has always had a love of helping others learn and always knew she would be an educator in some capacity. Before becoming a mom, Emerald taught Kindergarten and Second grade at Banner Christian. She has been a homeschool mom for 5 years and thoroughly enjoys the homeschool life.
