Intro to Baking
Description: This new class was created to serve students that are fairly new to the art of baking and are at least in 7th grade. Time will be spent learning all about baking! We will learn some history about baking and
interesting facts along the way. Students will learn how to make homemade
fondant and easy ways to decorate cakes. Pastries, pastry cream, cake fillings,
buttercreams, cookies, and tarts are just a few things we will be learning
about. During the Christmas season we
will make sweet breads for the local fire department. It is such a good project
to do to show thanks for all the work they do for us in our community. We have
done this for the last four years in my culinary classes and the students seem
to enjoy using class time to make treats for first responders.
