Introduction to Teaching
Course Description: In this course, students will study the foundation of early childhood education, human growth and development, brain development, and exposure to different types of programs and curricula available to teach young children. We will explore basic teaching strategies, classroom management skills, instructional planning, and the various learning styles. Over the course of the year, students will create engaging lesson plans for various ages and stages of development (birth-2nd grade), and students may be required to complete observations and field experiences with children as related to topics of study. While the class is advertised and geared toward those students who want to enter the education field one day, this is also a great course to take for any student who loves to help take care of littles ones through babysitting or teaching preschool. We also have plans to bring a First Aid/CPR class to this course sometime in the spring.
