Learning Made Fun:
Cross-Curricular Reinforcement of Science, English & History

Description: This 1st - 2nd grade class will focus on fun activities to enhance cross-curricular learning. Students will create lapbooks, do crafts, play games, and listen to read aloud books on a variety of subjects. We will cover math, phonics, geography, science, and history to help support learning throughout multiple subject areas while incorporating Biblical truths. We start out most classes with a fun read aloud to foster a love of reading and complete activities/worksheets to reinforce the theme of the book, both academic and character building. The primary focus of the class will be focused play and creativity to fuel the imagination and reinforce concepts taught in other classes. The class can be taken 2 years in a row. While topics may be similar (holidays, animals, historical events, etc.), the activities will be different. $40 Supply/Copy Fee, includes a subscription to Scholastic's "Let's Find Out" Weekly Reader for each student.

Text: none (In lieu of a book, the supply fee will cover the cost of weekly readers that will be used in class and sent home with each student)

Annual tuition: $330.00 ($33/month for 10 months, August- May or $37/month if prorated or on a 9-month payment plan)

Kacy Barbour

Associate of Science–General Education

Kacy grew up in East Tennessee, where she casually attended Northeast State Community College. She enjoyed the classes and teachers so much that she just kept going back until they told her she unintentionally had enough credits for a General Studies degree in 2021. Kacy and Wes met in September 2011 and got married 9 months later in June 2012. Their journey has taken them to North Carolina and several areas in Virginia, but they know the Lord called them to plant roots here in Chesterfield. Kacy and Wes have four children: Noah, Braylan, Coralynn, and Koda. They are a family of mixed schooling, with a couple of children at Bridge and a couple of children in public schools. They have thoroughly enjoyed their time at Bridge, watching their children grow and thrive in this environment, and are looking forward to getting to know the Bridge community better while serving here. Kacy serves on the Women’s Ministry Team at Parkway Baptist Church. She enjoys planning service projects and fellowship events alongside her Sisters in Christ.
