Pre-Algebra

Description: This class will build the foundation necessary for Algebra 1 and is the next step after successfully completing Math 7. We will review and master concrete concepts of arithmetic and transition into the more abstract concepts of algebra.  Topics covered will include order of operations, exponents, radicals, ratios, probability, percent, word problems, scientific notation, relations, functions, and introductory algebra. The class will meet twice a week.

Students joining a math class at Bridge Academy for the first time will be required to take a placement test before securing their registration in a specific math class for the 2023/2024 school year.

REQUIREMENTS

Textbook: BJU Pre-Algebra Student Text – 2nd edition (#233114 OR 508770)

Copy Fee: $20.00 (paid to Karyn Sisson due at Orientation or the first class attended)

Annual tuition: $520.00 ($52/month for 10 months, August - May, or $59/month if prorated or on a 9-month payment plan)

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Karyn Sisson

B.A. in Business Administration 

Karyn graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Business Administration. She has worked in the business world as a manager, a buyer, and a bookkeeper. In addition, she has experience in proofreading and editing for a textbook publisher. Karyn and her husband have three children and homeschooled for over twenty years. Her daughter and sons are now homeschool graduates, and by God’s provision, all three received full academic scholarships to college. Karyn has tutored and taught co-op classes in a variety of subjects at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. She loves teaching students at Bridge Academy!
