Get a glimpse of what it is like to work in an animation studio! In this super fun course, students will create full illustrations, character designs, storyboards, and animatics with the use of ink and markers. We will also learn how to simplify characters, create dynamic compositions, and use color to help depict the mood of an overall piece. They also will learn the history of animation and how it has influenced popular culture. This course is suitable for high school students of varying skill levels. Digital supplies such as Photoshop and Illustrator are optional as digital techniques will be taught based on student interest.

Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Health and Nutrition covers what maturing students need to know to help them make the best choices they can for themselves as they become young adults. Health is about stewardship: managing what you have as well as you can. This 15-module course covers the physical, nutritional, emotional, and spiritual aspects of growing into a healthy adult. Students will study the human body systems, senses, genetics, temperaments, and physical influences on thoughts and feelings. The course respectfully covers mental illness and emotional stability, as well as the inestimable value of another human being, our culture, our gender roles, our families, socialization, communication skills, and conflict resolution skills. Students will gain an in-depth knowledge of both macronutrients and micronutrients, including the importance of exercise and proper diet. Over 50 projects, noted in the textbook and included in the student notebook, cover materials such as nature versus nurture, personal temperament, good decision-making skills, boundary setting, analyzing food intake and activity levels, creating good hygiene habits, keeping a sleep record, as well as so much more.


This Class will meet online once a week. The required text and student workbook will be used to complete assignments. Projects and labs will provide students with hands-on application of material.

Exercise Science is the study of movement and the effects of physical activity on the human body. This course offers a unique blend of anatomy and physiology, combined with social and historical aspects of sport. Students will study how exercise and nutrition influence health, fitness, performance, and disease prevention. They will learn the basics of how to write an exercise and nutrition plan, and they will learn about different careers in exercise science. Class will meet online once a week – we will occasionally have in-person meetings – TBD. The required text and student lab manual will be used to complete assignments. Projects and labs will provide students with hands-on application of material.
