Get a glimpse of what it is like to work in an animation studio! In this super fun course, students will create full illustrations, character designs, storyboards, and animatics with the use of ink and markers. We will also learn how to simplify characters, create dynamic compositions, and use color to help depict the mood of an overall piece. They also will learn the history of animation and how it has influenced popular culture. This course is suitable for high school students of varying skill levels. Digital supplies such as Photoshop and Illustrator are optional as digital techniques will be taught based on student interest.

Jump into the fun world of a Graphic Designer! Students will be taught the Fundamentals of Design with the use of pen and ink. We also will learn the basics, when it comes to creating successful designs. This includes: typography, composition, visual hierarchy, and color when applicable. Using techniques taught in class, students will be given the tools to create their own logos, letter work, illustrated quotes, album covers, book covers, and much more.This class is suitable for high school students of varying skill levels. Some drawing and illustration techniques will be taught, but will be minimal.

Digital Design

Learn the tech savvy ways of a Digital Graphic Designer! Students will be taught how to navigate through the Adobe Suite, mainly through the use of Photoshop and Illustrator. Using these programs students will have the opportunity to create industry quality work. This is a slightly more advanced course for those who have already taken Graphic Design or are already familiar with digital art. Drawing and illustration techniques will also be taught.


Parents are responsible for ensuring their computer meets the minimum requirements to run the digital software and/or apps.


Prerequisite:  Unless students have successfully completed Graphic Design or Drawing classes, please contact Miss Kincaid to discuss previous experience and guidelines for submitting a work sample.
