Portfolio Development
Description: This course is designed for anyone who would like to grow their art portfolio. A portfolio is a body of work containing 12-20 pieces of artwork that preferably includes a variety of subjects and mediums. This course is absolutely for anyone who wants to continue to take arts courses at the collegiate level, but it is also for anyone who wants to gain deeper understanding into how to creatively express your ideas through art. In this course we will look deeper into Photography, Perspective, Painting, Sculpture and Drawing. We will also look at what some of the entry applications into art schools are asking for and discuss what makes something successful versus less successful in expressing its intent and composition.
The ideal college admittance portfolio has a range of drawings and painting in addition to a few pieces in the student’s area of interest, such as photography, film or fashion illustration. This class will require at least one hour each week of homework outside of class time to develop these pieces. This class will also require some specific art supplies to ensure your artist has the materials at home to successfully complete assignments to grow their artist portfolio.
Studio time per week one hour, expected time at home per week two hours.
