Sound Technology

In this class we will learn not only what sound is but how it affects the music we listen to, the movies we watch, and the games we play. We will learn the fundamentals of recording and mixing sound and how to do both in a live and studio setting. This class will be a hybrid of lecture-based and hands-on learning. Topics covered include studio signal flow, microphone selection and placement, use of outboard and software-based effects processors, overdubbing, creating composite audio tracks, and mixing. (2024-2025)

Annual tuition: $400.00 ($40.00/month for 10 months, August- May or $46/month if prorated or on a 9-month payment plan)

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Sam Taylor

Music Ed
Sam majored in Music Education at Longwood University. A long-time attender of Parkway Baptist Church in Moseley, Sam joined the Launch Team for PCNC as Worship Coordinator in 2019. Sam works at the Moseley campus of Parkway to coordinate worship and media for both churches. Sam and his wife, Laura, reside in North Chesterfield.
