Watercolor & Gouache
Course Description:
Watercolor and gouache painting techniques, once learned, can travel with students throughout life as a means of relaxation, documentation and connection. This class begins with a study of the basics in watercolor techniques and builds upon itself each week. Students will begin creating postcard sized abstract artworks to learn techniques and gradually work into creating larger works as the year progresses. At various times throughout the year we will alternate painting supplies to use gouache paints as a means of comparing and contrasting the two while creating unique artworks and interesting compositions. As students learn to paint with watercolor and gouache, they will build drawing skills, learn to create interest through composition, to add texture and learn about perspective, color theory, elements and principles of art. Students will gain project planning skills, practice mindfulness, and resilience while painting. All supplies, including paints, brushes, and paper are included in supply fees.
