Description:From resumes to cover letters, college applications to business emails, we use writing in the “real world” every day. This course prepares students to use their writing skills in relation to careers, further education, and more, designed to launch the student into their growing world.
Texts:No required text. Materials provided by teacher. Printer access required.
Pre-Requisites: Because we want our students to have an experience that allows for their writing skills to be taken to the next level, a writing sample is required for placement into any high school level English course. If you are interested in your student enrolling in this course and your student is currently enrolled at Bridge Academy, they may see Alicia Collins to complete and submit their writing sample during Bridge Academy regular hours at their convenience. If you wish your student to take this course but they are not enrolled at Bridge Academy, please contact Alicia Collins at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an appointment to have your student complete and submit their writing sample.

B.A. in English / MFA in Creative Writing
Ashley Wilda is a writer, teacher, and artist living in Richmond, VA. Having attended the University of Richmond and the Vermont College of Fine Arts, she holds a BA in English and an MFA in creative writing for children and young adults. She currently teaches writing at John Tyler Community College and is represented by Liz Nealon for her poetry and fiction. A former homeschooled child, she understands the unique needs and blessings of Richmond’s alternative schooling community.
