Culinary Arts & Baking

Culinary Arts & Baking is a hands-on course that introduces students to the fundamentals of both baking and cooking. Students will develop essential kitchen skills, including proper knife techniques, ingredient preparation, and cooking methods, while also learning the science behind baking. Throughout the course, students will create a variety of dishes, from breads and pastries to savory meals, exploring flavors and techniques from different culinary traditions. This course is perfect for students who want to build confidence in the kitchen and develop a strong foundation in both baking and culinary arts. (2025-2026)

REQUIREMENTS

Required Supplies: Apron

Copy/Baking Supplies: $85 (check written to Courtney Mays due at Orientation or at the first class attended)

Tuition: $385 ($38.50/month for 10 months, August-May)

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Courtney Mays

B.Ed. in Family and Consumer Science

Courtney is passionate about helping students develop practical life skills. She graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Secondary Education: Family and Consumer Science and has years of experience teaching in both the public schools and a homeschool co-op. She loves bringing creativity and real-world applications into the classroom. Outside of teaching, she is also a wife, mother to a 14-month-old, and a part-time wedding floral designer. This will be her first year at Bridge Academy; she is so excited to work with her students, helping them learn valuable skills they can use throughout their lives!
