Building Better Readers 3-4
This class will give students a stronger foundation in reading and writing. Students will read books of their own choosing while they learn reading comprehension skills such as visualizing, predicting, inferring, summarizing, setting, character development, and plot development. They will also work on expanding vocabulary, identifying parts of speech and basic grammar concepts. Each class will consist of a read aloud with a hands-on activity and writing practice. Each month, students will read a book of their own choice from various genres and complete a project to share with the class. Homework will consist of keeping track of their reading in a reading log, completing monthly projects and weekly vocab practice with the books they are reading at home, as well as assigned readings from the Reading Detective textbook. (2025-2026)
