English: Writing & Grammar (7th-8th)
This class is designed to enhance your middle school student's writing and grammar skills and introduce them to key literature concepts. Utilizing IEW's Structure and Style for Students, Year 1 Level B, students will discover how to infuse their writing with various stylistic techniques. Activities will include writing from notes, retelling compelling narratives, and summarizing texts. Students will also write their own stories using the techniques learned in the IEW curriculum. To complement the writing focus, the grammar segment will employ Easy Grammar Plus. Students will master the parts of speech and review capitalization and punctuation rules. Additionally, students will develop critical reading and comprehension skills as they explore two engaging novels. Through this exploration, students will identify essential literary elements like character development, plot, and setting, and grow in their ability to make inferences and draw conclusions.
*This course is appropriate for those who have OR have not had experience with IEW writing curricula.
