Middle School English with Writing: Level B
This course will focus on English grammar, literature, composition, and will include a small vocabulary component. The students will review the parsing and diagramming they learned in MS English A and progress to identifying and diagramming verbals, such as participles, gerunds, and infinitives and also appositive, adjectival, adverbial, and noun clauses. Persuasive writing will be taught using The Lost Tools of Writing Level 2 and selected literature. The students will learn to choose an issue, gather evidence from the text, sort that evidence, and present it in an organized and compelling manner. Students in this course will read nine novels and write nine essays, adding a new component each time. This “B” course is perfect for older middle school students or students who have had some experience with parsing sentences and writing essays.
